Ring Sizing

Do you need help finding your perfect ring size?

If you’re looking for tips on how to measure your ring size or how to determine the size of your ring, you’ve come to the right place.

We understand that rings come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, and that the small details make a big difference when you’re purchasing such a sentimental item.

That’s why we’ve broken down all the steps you can follow for finding your ring size, starting with the common step – visiting your local jeweller.

Will jewellers measure ring size?

Your local jeweller will be able to provide you with an accurate, comfortable, and tailored ring measurement using a standard set of ring sizers or finger gauges. As such, they’re best placed to help you find the perfect fit for your finger.

They will usually offer a ring sizing service for free in store, so we recommend going to a jeweller to be properly measured as the first course of action.

However, if you would prefer not to try jewellery on in a store and would rather find out your ring size from the comfort of your own home, there are a couple of things you can do.

How can I measure my ring size at home?

Discovering your measurements can be quick and easy with these simple steps.

Use a ruler and paper

This may be the best solution if you don’t want to wait for your ring sizer to arrive in the post.

It’s up to you whether you decide to use a piece of string or paper. If you use paper, you should cut it to the point where it’s no wider than 1.4cm (around half an inch). If you don’t have access to paper, a piece of string will do the same job.

Whichever of the two you go with, here’s how you use them to measure your ring size:

  1. Wrap the piece of string or paper snugly around the base of your finger, where you’d like your ring to sit.
  2. Using a pen, mark the point at which the two ends of your piece of string or paper meet each other, forming a full circle. You may need someone with you to help you with this step if you’re finding it difficult.
  3. Using a ruler, measure the length of the piece of string or paper to where you’ve left your mark. This will give you your ring measurement.
  4. Make a note of your measurement.
Once you know your ring size, you can use a chart such as the one below to convert your size to the corresponding size from your country. For example, a ring size L 1/2 in the UK would be a US size 6. Please be aware that ring sizes shown on the website reflect ring sizes by each designer's country.

When is the best time to measure ring size?

The best time to measure your ring size is in the evening.

This is because your fingers change size throughout the day based on temperature, weather, and activity levels.

They will be at their largest size in the evening, as they’ll be less cold than earlier in the day.

When your fingers are cold, they’re likely to contract and be half a ring size smaller, which impacts the size of the ring that can fit on them. Therefore, measuring your ring size at night will give you the truest, most accurate measurement.

For the most accurate reading, you should measure your finger size three to four times. Doing this will prevent you from getting any potentially erroneous readings.

You should also be aware that your ring size may vary between the same fingers on different hands. Therefore, whenever you’re measuring your finger, make sure it’s on the correct hand, i.e., the hand on which you plan to wear the ring.

Hopefully the above answers any questions you may have had regarding ring size. If you have any further queries, send an email to Hello@Jeryco-Store.com.
